Book Review of
Cheaper By the Dozen
What do you get when you put twelve lively kids together with a father — a famous efficiency expert — who believes families can run like factories, and a mother who is his partner in everything except discipline? You get a hilarious tale of growing up that has made generations of kids and adults alike laugh along with the Gilbreths in Cheaper by the Dozen. Translated into more than fifty-three languages and made into a classic film starring Clifton Webb and Myrna Loy, Cheaper by the Dozen is a delightfully enduring story of family life at the turn of the 20th century.
Both of my girls read this book before me and they loved it. I was looking for a fun easy read and they told me to give this one a try. I can’t believe it took me so long to read this. I loved this book! It was hilarious. If you have kids, or came from a big family, this book is a must read. It is full of funny stories and real life mishaps. This book is one that you won’t forget. I have seen both the movies that were based on the book and the book is so much better. The movies are good, but the book is so worth reading. This is a fun read for teen and adults.
