Book Review of
Miss Morgan’s Book Brigade
Lynn's Review
Miss Morgan’s Book Brigade by Janet Skeslien Charles was published in 2024. It is a historical fiction book.
Miss Morgan’s Book Brigade is set in 1918 France and 1987 New York.
In 1918, Jessie Carson took a leave of absence from her job at the New York Public Library to work for the American Committee for Devasted France, which is a group of women dedicated to helping the devastation near the front lines.
In 1987, Wendy Peterson, a writer, came across a reference to Jessie Carson while working at the New York Public Library. She is determined to learn more about her and what she did during the war.
There is so much written about WWII, that I love finding books set during WWI. I also enjoyed the 1987 timeline because I grew up in the 1980s.
I have read about WWI France, but I knew very little about efforts like the committee of volunteers and workers like Jessie Carson. So, I enjoyed reading about this time and place during WWI.
It also involved libraries and books. So if you love books about books, especially books about books during war time, I think you will enjoy this one.
