Did you know that the Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit is based on a book that was published back in 1983?
The Queen’s Gambit is one of the first fiction books in almost a year that I could not put down. The writing was so good. It made me feel addicted to chess even though I only play a little of the game. The writing style pulls you in, and if you know more about the game of chess than I do, you may like it even more.
I liked how the author handled the issues that come with being smart. The brain works differently, and one can really see that in the character of Beth. The characters are people one could meet in real life, which is another reason I was drawn into the pages.
Now I can’t wait to watch the Netflix series Queen’s Gambit.
It is an adult book as it does have some sexual stuff, language, and drugs and alcohol abuse. It was not too graphic, but it was there so I wanted to add a warning.
