Did you know that in the 1890s the easiest state to get a divorce in was South Dakota? I would never have picked The Divorce Colony by April White up if I had not received it in my Shelf Subscription from The Bookshelf in Thomasville, GA.

I love this subscription because it challenges me to read books I might not read otherwise. I would categorize this book as a nonfiction book that covers the history or divorce in America and the lengths people went to to get one.

I enjoyed the history of this book. I had no idea that people would flock to states that made divorce easy. However, I thought the book glorified divorce a little bit, which I didn’t love. But I am glad I read it. If you love little-known historical facts, you will probably enjoy this one.
