Book Review of
A Useful Woman
Lynn's Review
A Useful Woman by Darcie Wilde. It is a Historical Mystery.
A Useful Woman is the first book in the Rosalind Thorne Mystery series.
I love mysteries and had not heard of this series until recently.
Rosalind Thorne is nearly ruined when her father, who is a baronet, abandoned his family. To survive she begins to manage the affairs of some of London’s society.
When someone she knows is found dead in London’s most exclusive ballroom, she uses her skills and connections to solve the crime.
I recently shared about two clean romance books that I didn’t really like because they were so unrealistic. I have been thinking about that a lot because this book is also unrealistic, but I really enjoyed it.
It wasn’t a five star read, but I enjoyed it much more than I did the two clean romance books that I read earlier this month.
I think when it comes to mystery books, I don’t mind them being unrealistic. Clean romance is not only unrealistic, it is usually very predictable.
A good mystery is not predictable. It keeps you guessing. It keeps my mind working and I don’t get bored with it.
A Useful Woman was a fun read. If you like cozy type mystery books this is a fun one.
