Billy Boyle book review

Billy Boyle by James R. Benn is a WWII historical mystery book published in 2006.

Billy Boyle is an American cop who comes from a family of cops.

Hoping for her son to avoid the worst of WWII, Billy’s mother arranges for her son to work with a distant cousin who is a General working in England. That general turns out to be Dwight D. Eisenhower.

General Eisenhower, aka Uncle Ike, assigns Billy to be his personal investigator. His first case is not an easy one.

I really enjoyed this book. It mixes WWII history with a mystery.

It is based on real battles and events, however besides a few people like Eisenhower, it is not based on real people.

Billy Boyle being Eisenhower’s distant relative is a bit unrealistic, but once I got past that part, I enjoyed this one.

I will read more in this series. It would also be a fun read for a guy who likes mysteries.
