It is time to share what I read in September. Overall, it was a good reading month, although I only read two nonfiction books, which is not a lot for me.
September was busy, and my mind couldn’t focus well on nonfiction. I would pick one up to read, and after reading a few pages, I would set it back down and pick up a fiction book. But that is fine. Some reading months, I read a lot of nonfiction, and others, I don’t.
October is going a little better so far. I started the new Ina Garten memoir, and I am really enjoying it.
September Reading
I am sharing a few thoughts on each book. For a full review and more information, click on the title, which will take you to my full review.
Fiction
One Two Buckle My Shoe by Agatha Christie. In One Two Buckle My Shoe, Hercule Poirot visits the dentist. This book published in 1940 was not my favorite Agatha Christie book, but I still enjoyed it.
The Booklover’s Library by Madeline Martin. This is the third Madeline Martin book that I have read, and I think it is my favorite. She writes such great books about books during WWII.
Sweet Success by Nicole Ellis. This is book two in the Candle Beach series. You don’t have to read them in order, but I did. I love this series set in a small beach town in Washington state. They are great quick and easy reads.
Emma of 83rd Street by Audrey Bellezza and Emily Harding. This retelling of Emma was not for me.
What the Mountains Remember by Joy Callaway. I enjoyed this book, set in 1913 North Carolina, in the same mountain area recently hit so hard by Hurricane Helene.
Come From Away by Genevieve Graham. Genevieve Graham writes historical fiction set in Canada. This one is about the eastern Canadian coast during WWII.
The Carousel by Rosamunde Pilcher. This is a lesser-known Rosamund Pilcher book that I enjoyed.
Nonfiction
The Accidental Duchess by The Duchess of Rutland. This memoir by a modern-day Duchess was fascinating. I listened to the audio and enjoyed it because the author narrated it.
Christian Nonfiction
A Meal With Jesus by Tim Chester. I thought this book was about Christian hospitality, but it was also about so much more than that.
I would love to hear what you have been reading.
In September, I read The Egg and I (thanks to your recent review), We Were the Lucky Ones (SUCH a good book!), and The Autoimmune Solution (by Dr. Amy Myers). There weren’t any fiction books in my September stack but I always appreciate your fiction reviews and there are several you’ve listed here that I’d like to check out.
I hope October brings you some great reading time!
You read some great books! I have heard The Autoimmune Solution was good/interesting read.
