A Lady’s Guide to Marvels and Misadventure by Angela Bell was published in 2024. It is a Christian historical fiction book.

The main character, Clara, is trying to protect her family from the rumors her ex-fiancé is spreading about them. She is determined to keep them safe, but her grandfather hired a stranger, whom Clara does not trust, to work at his shop.

I don’t even know how to describe this book to review it, except that it felt like Dr. Doolittle meets 80 Days Around the World meets a Victorian romance. It was such a bizarre story. With flying machines, animals, quirky family members, and all kinds of odd happenings.

A lot of people love this book. It has good reviews on Amazon, but it was not for me.

I will say that I am not much of a fantasy reader, and this had some fantasy elements, which might be part of why I did not like it.
