Book Review of
Christmas In the Castle Library
Lynn's Review
Christmas in the Castle Library by Ann Swindell is a Christmas romance published in 2024.
This new release book was all over social media this fall and winter, and so many people loved it that I decided to try it.
Ellie, a PhD student, has always felt more comfortable around books than people. She longs to get to the bottom of the mysterious disappearance of the Queen of Lethersby during WWI. She has her chance to solve the mystery when she gets to spend Christmas at the castle. With the help of Mark, a castle history buff, she tries to solve the mystery of the Queen of Lethersby.
This book is a Hallmark movie meets royalty book, which is why so many people love it. It is also why I didn’t. I don’t mind light and fun Christmas fiction. I read several of those types of books each year. I think it is when you combine the royal and Christmas romance that I lose interest. This book was so over the top unrealistic that I had trouble getting into it.
Yes, it was a light and quick read, but I wanted more depth and a more realistic storyline. However, I know that I am in the minority on that. Most people seem to love the royal storyline in this one.
