Book Review of
Christmas With the Queen
Lynn's Review
Christmas With the Queen by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb. It was published in 2024 and is Christmas historical fiction.
Last Christmas in Paris is one of my favorite Christmas books, so when I saw that Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb had a new one out, I knew that I wanted to read it.
Christmas with the Queen is a historical fiction book set in England at Christmas. It starts in December 1952 and follows Olive, an aspiring reporter with the BBC, and Jack, a chef who longs to own his own restaurant but gets a job working in the Royal kitchen.
This book includes a romance, but since it is historical fiction it is not a Hallmark movie type of Christmas romance book.
I enjoyed how much royal history, especially about Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip during their early years of marriage. There were some liberties taken with history, and conversations between the Queen and others that never happened, but I was able to get past that and enjoy the book.
If you are looking for a Christmas read that is not a Hallmark movie type of book, I think you will enjoy this one.
I’m reading Last Christmas in Paris now and oh my goodness, am I loving it!!! Cried a bit too. I have this one on my shelf.
Last Christmas in Paris is so good! Christmas with the Queen is different from Last Christmas in Paris, but it is still really good.
