Book Review of
Eden Undone
Lynn's Review

Eden Undone by Abbott Kahler is a true crime book published in 2024.
Truth really is stranger than fiction in Eden Undone. Amazon classifies this book as women in history and murder and mayhem. I don’t think either of those categories fit this book; it is more like true crime, but I would also call it strange history.
This book is set in the 1930s on a remote Galapagos island where a Berlin doctor, his girlfriend, a WWI veteran and his family, and an Austrian Baroness and her two male assistants are trying to find or create Utopia.
But can a utopian paradise be found?
The doctor and his girlfriend left their spouses to live on this island halfway around the world from their homeland.
The WWII veteran is also not officially married to his pregnant wife, and his son has health problems.
As for the Baroness, is she really a baroness? And are her assistants there to help her, or are they more like slaves?
And then two people disappear. But did they disappear, or were they murdered?
I could not put this book down. I was looking for a riveting book to start the new year, and this book was exactly what I needed. This is the most bizarre story that I have read in quite a while.
After I finished Eden Undone, I told my husband that you don’t need to read fiction books when real-life stories are this strange.
