Book Review of
Little Women
Lynn's Review
One of my reading goals for 2026 is to listen to more audiobooks. I started with Little Women by Louise May Alcott
Little Women was originally published in two parts, with the first published in 1868 and the second in 1869. Today, it is published as one book.
It is a fictional story about the four March sisters. It starts during the Civil War, when Mr. March is off fighting, and Mrs. March is home taking care of the family. The book follows the women through childhood into adulthood.
This is the third time that I have read Little Women. I read it as a teen and again when I was homeschooling my kids.
This time, I decided to listen to it on audio using Audible’s version. I really enjoyed listening to it. I think Audible did a good job with the narration. I will say that from what I can tell, this is an abridged version of the book, and I didn’t realize that until I was quite a ways into the audiobook. I did enjoy the audio, but if I had known that, I might have listened to a different version.
I also appreciated this book more this time. It is good to read a book like this several times over the years. Things that stood out to me as a teen are very different than what stand out to me now as an adult.
If you have never read Little Women or are looking to reread it, this audio version is a great way to do it.
4 star read.
