Rescue At Los Banos by Bruce Henderson is a WWII nonfiction book published in 2015. 

This book is about the amazing rescue of Los Banos a WWII prison camp in the Philipines. 

Near the end of WWII, the Japanese held over two thousand prisoners, mostly Americans, in Los Banos.

Troops were deployed by land, sea, and air to rescue the prisoners from Los Banos. 

A lot has been written about the WWII European battles, but not nearly as much has been written about the Pacific and the Philippines. This book brings to our attention a courageous mission during WWII. 

My brother-in-law sent my husband this book as a gift. My husband doesn’t read quite as much as I do, so I knew that it would sit in his to-be-read stack for a while.

I quickly decided to read it first and then pass it on to him before he finished his current read. That is exactly what happened. I had no trouble finishing this before he was ready to read it. 

I had never heard about this book until my brother and sister in law mentioned it to us. I am so glad they gifted this book to my husband. 

I love to find backlist books that I have never heard of.
