The Beautiful Mystery by Louise Penny is a mystery published in 2012. It is the eighth book in the Inspector Gamache series. It is set in a monastery in the remote wilderness of Quebec. 

When the choir director is murdered and the monastery is no longer peaceful, Inspector Gamace and Jean-Guy Beauvoir go to the monastery to solve the case. 

This book is about the murder at the monastery, but like other Louise Penny books, it is about so much more. It is about friendships, fame, trust, addiction, and more. 

I liked The Beautiful Mystery, but it wasn’t my favorite Louise Penny book. I listened to this one on audio, and I think that is part of why I didn’t like it as much. The audio of this one made it harder for me to follow. 

I thought this one got a bit darker than some of the other books in the series at well. 

However, it was still a good book and I will keep reading the series.
