Book Review of
The British Booksellers
Lynn's Review

The British Booksellers by Kristy Cambron was published in 2024. It is WWI and WWII historical fiction since it covers both WWI and WWII.
Amos, a tenant farmer’s son, and Charlotte have a secret friendship. But Charlotte is going to marry the Earl of Harcourt, and she knows it will be a loveless match. Amos goes off to fight in WWI, and Charlotte gives birth to Eden and becomes a war widow when the Earl of Harcourt is killed.
Years later, during WWII, Charlotte and Amos are brought back together while Eden is trying to save their estate and her father’s legacy.
I loved how this book incorporated both WWI and WWII history. It covered the trenches of WWI and the Coventry Blitz of WWII, along with what life was like in England during both wars.
I also enjoyed this book because it was about books and a bookstore.
What I did not love is that, at times, it felt very unrealistic and not likely to have happened. Yes, I know it is fiction, but I like fiction to read like it could be real life. I love WWII history, which reads like it could be a real story that took place. This book, at times, did not feel like that to me, which is why it ended up being only a three-star book for me.
