Book Review of
The Children’s Blizzard
Lynn's Review

The Children’s Blizzard by Melanie Benjamin was published in 2021. It is a historical fiction book about The Children’s Blizzard, also known as the School Children’s Blizzard, of 1888. That blizzard killed 235 people, mainly children, in Nebraska and the Dakotas.
I read the nonfiction book, The Children’s Blizzard by David Laskin a few years ago. Both the nonfiction and historical fiction books are good, but I enjoyed the nonfiction version better.
I can see why so many people love the fiction version, but I thought the nonfiction version was so much better. I have found that when it comes to tragedy I prefer reading the real version because it is about the real people that actually lived it. There is nothing wrong with the fictionalal version, but I find the actual history lived by the people so much more fascinating than a story about fictitious characters
