The Queen's Fortune on Kindle book review

The Queen’s Fortune by Allison Pataki is a historical fiction book set during the French Revolution. It focuses on Napoleon Bonaparte and those who might have known him.

I picked this up after reading The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post because it is by the same author.

The Queen’s Fortune was probably a three-star read for me. I liked it, but I didn’t love it.

I enjoy Alisson Pataki’s writing. I have not read a lot of nonfiction or fiction about Napoleon or the French Revolution. This book took me to a world that I knew nothing about.

My problem with the book was what I generally struggle with regarding historical fiction. I could not tell what was fact and fiction.

Some people love that in historical fiction. I do not. I want to know what is fact and what is made up. The author had some notes at the end, but not a lot. That means there was probably a ton of fiction mixed in with the facts.

After reading this book, I kept wondering what part of what I read was true and what was not. I guess that means I will have to find some nonfiction on the topic to read.

It was also way more open door, pg-13, than I expected. Yes, I knew it was Napoleon and would have some, but it was too many details for me.
