Book Review of
The Stolen Queen
Lynn's Review

The Stolen Queen by Fiona Davis is a historical fiction book published in 2025.
The Stolen Queen has two timelines. In 1936, Egypt Charlotte was an archaeologist at a time when few women had that job. In 1978, New York. 19-year-old Annie is excited to get a job working with Diana Vreeland at the Met Gala. While working at the Met, Annie meets Charlotte.
This book is part history and mystery, with some art and fashion mixed in.
I don’t usually like books about art, but this one I loved. I think that is because the art was just part of the story. There was so much history and mystery woven into the art.
This book definitely fits into my goal of learning through books in 2025. I want books to take me places that I will never go and teach me things that I did not know. This book did exactly that.
I have read New York City books, but not at set at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1978.
When it comes to Egypt, I don’t think I have read any fiction books set there. Since I love books set in WWI and WWII, I loved that it was set in 1936. The war was not the topic of the book, but it deals with some of the build up before WWII.
If you like historical fiction that is a little different, I think you will enjoy this one. If you are not a big historical fiction reader but would like to try more of it, I think you will also enjoy this one because there is so much mystery.
I know I read The Stolen Queen in January, but this has the potential to be one of my favorite fiction books of the year.
