When The World Was Ours by Liz Kessler is YA WWII Historical Fiction book published in 2021. 

I don’t read many YA books, but I am working on a project, so I picked this one up. 

This book is about three friends, Leo, Max, and Elsa. Two of them are Jewish, and one of the is not. WWII changes their friendship forever. 

This is a YA book, but I enjoyed it. It is based on a true story and reads like one, even though it is a young adult book. It covers the horrors of WWII without a lot of graphic details. 

This book is recommended for ages 12 and up, and I would agree with that. A younger child might be able to read it, but I think you have to be twelve and up to understand the book better. I think this would probably be a good book for 7th-9th graders.
