For Those Who Are Lost by Julia Bryan Thomas was published in 2022. It is WWII historical fiction.

This book would be a great book club book because there is so much to discuss. 

A day before the Nazi invasion of Guernsey, a Channel Island between England and France, children are evacuated to mainland England. They did this in order to keep them safe.

The children were taken from their parents, with just a few hours notice. 

Two of the children evacuated were Lily and Henry. What is meant to keep these children safe, changed their lives forever. 

This book takes you on an adventure as you follow the lives of these two children during and after WWII.  

I was drawn to this book because of the Guernsey setting. After reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society several years ago, I have been trying to find more books set in the Channel Islands. 

I really enjoyed this book and the writing. I think the author was creative. She took a historical event, that happened to so many children during WWII, but gave it her own twist by not using real people. 

I have read great reviews on this book and I did enjoy it, but I really struggled to like one of the main characters. Her choices were awful and they changed lives. She made decisions she had no place to make. I felt like at times the end justified the means in this book and I struggled with that. 

However, this book did make me think. What would I have done if I was in that situation? Would I have made the same decision? 

Although I struggle to like one of the characters, this book made me think and that is the sign of a good book. 

This is probably a three-and-a-half-star book for me.
