Book Review of
Beautiful People Don’t Just Happen
Lynn's Review
Beautiful People Don’t Just Happen by Scott Sauls was published in 2022. It is Christian nonfiction.
“Strong souls tend to emerge not from a life of surface comfort but from rock-bottom experiences. The most remarkable humans with the most remarkable faith are usually the ones who have come to the end of themselves, suffered deeply, and lost much.” page 174
I needed this book. It was the right book at the right time for me. It was on my list of Christian books to read this year and I am so glad that this was the first one I picked up.
The reality is that I ended 2022 feeling weary and worn out. The last few years have been filled with health problems for our family. This book was the book I needed to remind me that trials make us who we are, but it isn’t just the trial that makes us who we are it is how we react to those trials.
On page 131 the author talks about his personality type. I have never felt so seen when it comes to my personality. I read the section to my husband and daughters and there were like, that is so you. I enjoyed this book, but I think I enjoyed it even more because I could relate to so much of what the author said.
If you are going through a difficult time or are coming out of a difficult time I think you will find encouragement in this book.
