The Berlin Letters book review

The Berlin Letters by Katherine Reay is a Cold War historical fiction book. It was published in 2024.

I read two Katherine Reay books this month and loved them both.

The Berlin Letters is a Cold War novel set in the 1960s, when the Berlin Wall went up, and the late 1980s, when it came down.

This book is about a family separated by the Berlin Wall and by secrets they have held on to for years.

Louisa has always loved puzzles. She hoped to work for the CIA, but instead, she works for the government decoding WWII messages. After her grandfather dies, she learns that her father and grandfather have been sending secret messages for years. As she works to solve the mystery, she learns more about her family than she ever imagined.

The writing in this book is so well done. I loved the characters and setting. Even though the ending seemed a bit unrealistic, it was a five star read for me.
