The Booklover's Library book

The Booklover’s Library by Madeline Martin is a WWII historical fiction book.

The Booklover’s Library by Madeline Martin is a WWII book about books. Set in Nottingham, England, it follows Emma, a widow who needs a job to support her daughter and herself. During WWII, married women, even widows, did not work. It wasn’t accepted.

However, Emma is running out of things to sell and must find a way to earn money.

Her family used to own a bookstore, so she knows all about books and reading. so Boots Booklover’s Library takes a chance and offers her a job.

During the war, though, Emma is faced with the challenge of sending her daughter to the countryside to keep her safe. As with many cases during the war, this brought about unexpected problems and difficulties.

This is the third Madeline Martin book that I have read, and it might be my favorite. I loved it.

It is about war, books, family, finding a family, love, the evacuation of children during WWII, and more.

If you love WWII historical fiction or books about books, you might enjoy this one.
