The White Lady by Jacqueline Winspear was published in 2023. It is a historical mystery.
I have enjoyed the Maise Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear, so when I saw this book at a bookstore last year, I knew I wanted to read it.
Elinor is a former spy trying to leave that life behind for a quiet life in the English countryside. That doesn’t happen. Her past haunts her, and when a child is in danger, she has to help.
This book weaves WWI, WWII, and post-WWII into Elinor’s story. I thought it was so well done. It was a bit unrealistic at points, but I still really enjoyed this mystery.
I am hoping this is a series, but I think it might just be a stand alone book.
