This week’s book for Fiction Friday is The Gown by Jennifer Robson.
The Gown was published in 2018. It is a novel about the royal wedding. However, this book isn’t really about the wedding, it is about the dress that Queen Elizabeth wore on her special day.
This book is an excellent book for fans of Downton Abbey, books about the royal family or royal history.
I read The Gown back in 2019 and loved it.
The Gown by Jennifer Robson is set in 1947 London and 2016 Toronto.
In 1947, London it follows the embroiderers as they work on Queen Elizabeth’s wedding gown.
In 2016, Heather is trying to solve the mystery of her grandmother’s embroidered flowers.
I loved that this book was about the history of the royal family, but the royal family was not the star of the book, the wedding dress is the star.
If you love historical fiction and are looking for something different, I think you will enjoy The Gown.
