What I Read In January {Lynn}

The Boys In the Boat

January was a good reading month for me. There is something about cold weather that just makes me want to spend my evenings reading.

My favorite book that I read in January was The Boys In the Boat. I loved this book and can’t believe it took me so long to read it. You can read my full review here. This is a book that I am sure you will hear me mention a lot because it was one of those non-fiction books that was so well written I couldn’t put it down.

I read Bryson City Tales, which was a book recommended by a reader. If you love books about small town life, this is a great memoir type book about a doctor’s first year of practice in a small town in the Smoky Mountains.

I also read Simply Tuesday, which is a book that has been in my to read pile for awhile. I picked up a couple of years ago, but just now got around to reading it. This book was a good reminder to slow down and enjoy the everyday moments.

I love it when I get reader recommendations because they are almost always great books. A few months ago a reader told me about the Bakeshop Mystery Series because she thought I would enjoy them. I gave the first one, Meet Your Baker, a try and really enjoyed it. It was a more modern, cozy mystery, type of book. It was an easy mindless mystery read. I loved that it was set in a small town in Oregon. I will definitely be reading more in this series.
