We love supporting small independent bookstores, and today we are sharing all about The Bookshelf in Thomasville, GA, and their shelf subscriptions.
My goal for 2021 was to support more small businesses. Sometimes this means shopping local stores in my areas and other times that means shopping at small independent bookstores when we travel.
For today, it means sharing about an independent bookstore that I have never been to but love.
I am not sure where I first heard about The Bookshelf in Thomasville, GA, but I have followed them on Instagram and listened to Annie, the owner’s podcast for years.
The Bookshelf offers all kinds of books and bookish items to purchase online, but what I love is the monthly shelf subscriptions that they offer.
They have several choices for their monthly shelf subscriptions, and I love how they do it.
Multiple staff members have their own subscription option that they choose the books for each month.
They tell you what type of books each staff member enjoys and you pick the staff member that reads that type of book that you do. It is kind of like finding a book twin to send you books each month.
I have been tempted by The Bookshelf’s monthly subscription for a long time, but I knew that most of the books were not the type of books that I tend to read. They didn’t have a reader that matched me.
That is until this year. At the beginning of 2021, they announced a new shelf subscription.
Earlier this year they offered the Nancy/Susie option, and I knew I had to sign up.
What is the Nancy/Susie option? Nancy works at The Bookshelf, and Susie is the shop mom. She is Annie’s, the owner of The Bookshelf, mom.
The Nancy/Susie option is for the more sensitive reader. The type of reader that prefers PG not R rated books. And the type of reader that loves feel-good fiction.
When I saw that description, I knew that it was the perfect book subscription for me. And it has been! The books each month have been great.
Several of the books like, The Kitchen Front and The Woman With The Blue Star, were ones that were on my wishlist to read after I finish my backlist books challenge.
A couple of them were books that I had never heard of, but look forward to reading. They even had a nonfiction book one month that I can’t wait to read.
This month when I opened the package and saw Once Upon a Wardrobe I was so excited.
This is a book that I have had on my wishlist since I first saw it. It was so fun to see it as November’s pick.
I loved my shelf subscription so much that I renewed my subscription for another six months.
I also just got my husband the Shop Dad subscription. The Shop Dad’s option is a new option that The Bookshelf is starting in January 2022. The books are picked by Annie, the owner’s, dad.
I think it is a great idea for the hard to buy for men in our lives. What a fun gift to give, right?
The Bookshelf in Thomasville offers six different options for your monthly subscription. They have just about any type of reader covered.
If you are looking for a fun bookish treat for yourself or for the reader in your life, I highly recommend The Bookshelf in Thomasville, GA, shelf subscriptions.
Note: The Bookshelf has no clue that I am writing this post about their book subscription. I paid for my subscription and for the gift subscription I bought.
