Nonfiction Books For A Movie Lover

If you have a movie fan or Hollywood fan on your gift list this list of nonfiction books for a movie lover is for you.

Personally, I, Grace, love movie history. I just find it so fascinating.

I love to watch older T.V. shows and movies, but I also love to learn about how old movies and T.V. shows and movies were made.

I also find it interesting to learn how T.V. and movies have changed over the years. Movies and T.V. are nothing like they were forty or fifty years ago.

I like to watch YouTube videos and documentaries, and also read books all about Hollywood and the people that make movies and T.V. happen. Learning about it can be fascinating because so much happens behind the scenes.

If you are a movie lover or know someone that is a lover of movies or Hollywood, here are a few books about Hollywood and the movies.

Nonfiction Books for Movie Lovers

We'll Always Have Casablanca

Casablanca

Casablanca was a great read and reminder of the significance of Casablanca the movie. The atmosphere of the holiday and the nation of the time also made for the movie to be unique and able to be created. This is a great gift for anyone that loves the movie Casablanca.

High Noon

High Noon

High Noon is such a well known movie. It had such a significant impact on movies and western. It is an amazing anti-western western.

High Noon the book covers the story of the making of the film. It was a very low budget. It was also controversial and shot in a very short time frame. Many actors took lower pay. However, once it was done, it became a hit, and is still famous today.

The Boys book

The Boys

The Boys focuses more on two different experiences of Hollywood from the perspective of Ron and Clint Howard. They talk about their time in Hollywood, especially as children.

It is also a personal story though. It shares how their parents handled them being childhood actors and how it affected both Clint’s and Ron’s life. If you grew up watching Andy Griffith and Happy Days this is a must-read.

Rin Tin TIn

Rin Tin Tin

Rin Tin Tin is a very famous dog actor.

I was born in the 21st century, but I enjoy watching old movies. I even watched some Rin Tin Tin. I didn’t watch a lot, because I preferred Bullet, Roy Rogers dog when I would watch old black and whites.

However, when I saw this Rin Tin Tin book, I wanted to learn more about the old TV shows like Rin Tin Tin and dog actors. I am really glad I picked it up even though were sad elements to the story. It also took a path that I didn’t expect, but it is educational and a more unique side of cinema and animals.

True Believer The Rise and Fall of Stan Lee book cover

True Believer

True Believer was gifted to me by my siblings. I ended up reading it as a summer read. It is about Stan Lee and his experience both as a comic book writer but also his experience making movies, tv, and trying to break into the industry.

If you read this book, you will walk away with a different view on Stan Lee. It definitely does not show him in the best light.

However, it also shows just how harsh the movie industry can be, and Stan Lee’s passion for making his comics into movies and tv.

Do you have any favorite nonfiction books for a movie lover? We would love to hear about it in the comments.
