Book Review of
Our Darkest Night
Lynn's Review
Our Darkest Night by Jennifer Robson is WWII Historical Fiction.
I have read The Gown and The Coronation Year by Jennifer Robson and enjoyed them both, so I have wanted to read more of her books.
Since I love WWII historical fiction I decided to give this one a try. I enjoyed it and plan to read more of her books.
This book is set in Italy during WWII. Antonina, the daughter of a well known Jewish doctor, has to leave the life she knows in order to survive. She is rescued by Niccolo, who was studying to become a priest until he had to leave to help his family run their farm.
Farm life is not easy for Antonina. Nor is it easy to keep the secrets that she and Niccolo must keep for them both to survive.
This book is one that I can’t stop thinking about. It is a sad book and isn’t an easy one to read, but I kept thinking about what I would have done in a similar situation. Would I have made the same choices? A book that makes me think long after I read it means that it was a book that I am glad I read.
