June Reads 2024

I am sharing my June Reads for 2024 a little early this month.

a stack of June Reads books

I don’t usually share my monthly reads until the month is over. However, the next few days are super busy for me, and I am pretty sure I will not finish any more books this month.

I am over halfway through at least four books, but I won’t have time to finish them before June is over.

My reading has slowed down over the last two months. After several years of health issues, I am finally starting to see some improvement. I am thankful for that and pray that it continues.

Feeling better means that I am doing more everyday stuff than reading. That is a very good thing.

I have also been busier the last few months. Part of that is because I am feeling better, and part of that is that right now, I am working with a trainer, a dietician, and several doctors to try to improve my health.

The things we are doing are helping, but they are also cutting into my reading time.

However, I still read six books in June, so it was still an okay reading month.

I am sharing a few thoughts on each book below. For a full review, click on the title of the book.

Fiction

Crow Talk book review

Crow Talk by Eileen Garvin. Set in the Pacific Northwest, Crow Talk is a book about family, love, grief, nature, and so much more. It was the setting of this book that made me love it. Eileen Garvin did such a great job describing the people and places of the Pacific Northwest.

The Matchmakers Murders

The Matchmakers Murders by Catherine Gibson. Overall, I liked this book, but it reminded me why I don’t accept many books for free from authors and publishers. Authors and publishers want raving reviews, not honest ones.

The Hazelbourne Ladies and Motorcycle and Flying Club book

The Hazelbourne Ladies Motorcycle and Flying Club by Helen Simonson. Overall, I liked this book, but I did not love how the last few chapters wrapped up the book.

The Bodyguard

The Bodyguard by Katherine Center. This is the first book by Katherine Center that I have read, and I can’t wait to read more of her work. I already added two of her other books to my Kindle to read on vacation later this summer.

Nonfiction

One Tough Mother book review

One Tough Mother by Gert Boyle. This is the story of Columbia Sportswear, and it is a fascinating one. Gert and her family escaped Nazi Germany, came to Portland, Oregon, then founded and built Columbia into what it is today.

Christian Nonfiction

Extraordinary Hospitality book review

Extraordinary Hospitality by Carolyn Lacey. This book has been in to my to be read stack for a couple years. I finally picked it up to read. It was a fairly quick read. It was a reminder that hospitality is not about us, it is about serving God and others.

What did you read in June?
