The Ranger’s Apprentice Series by John Flanagan is one of my kid’s favorite books series. This is a book series that both boys and girls love.
Finding a book or series of books for kids in middle school and junior high can be a challenge. At that age, they sometimes read a book in a day. This is great, but it can be hard to find the books as fast as they read them.
I always loved it when I found a book series that my kids loved. It made it easy to keep them reading book after book.
We love to help promote reading in kids, so today Grace is sharing a little bit about one of our family’s favorite book series for kids.
I have read many in this series, but I have yet to finish it. My brother has read them all and loved them.
The last three are the ones that are still on my shelf. I want to finish the series someday even though they are well below my reading level.
And yes, even though I am in college, I still want to read the last few books in this series because I enjoyed this series so much as a kid.
I like how they are written and the characters in them.
I enjoyed how much goes on and the fun world the reader is put into while reading the books. The rangers are my favorite characters because they are always running towards trouble helping everyone in need along with keeping the kingdom protected.
I think this is a great series for ten and up. If you are looking for a book or series of books for your kids give The Ranger’s Apprentice Series by John Flanagan a try.

Last year I wrapped up 14 years of homeschooling with my youngest son’s high school graduation. We always loved read-aloud books, and the Ranger’s Apprentice series was one of our favorites as well. The Brotherband Series, also by John Flanagan is excellent also.
I wrapped up homeschooling my youngest last year too. My son loved The Brotherband series by John Flanagan too. They are both great series and I think favorites for many homeschoolers. Congratulations on finishing up homeschooling!

I asked my kids and this is what we came up with. John Flanagan’s other series Brotherband is one that my kids also enjoyed. They also enjoyed the Kingdom’s Dawn series by Chuck Black. Kingdom’s Dawn is a Christian series that is kind of similar to The Ranger’s Apprentice. My son read one or two books in The Ascendance Series by Jennifer A. Nielsen, he only read one or two in the series, so I am not sure about all of them, but he said it was similar to Ranger’sApprentice. My kids also loved Redwall by Brian Jacques. Redwall is a little different, but also similar. Redwall is a little lower reading level, but my daughter read and loved the whole series. I have known adults that love Redwall, so if your daughter has not read that series she might enjoy it. I hope that helps and you find some books that your daughter enjoys!
