It is January and we are finally starting to get caught up with book reviews from last year.
I got behind on book reviews while I was doing my backlist books challenge. And Grace has been busy with her last year of college.
Grace has been reading, especially for college, but she has not had a lot of time to help me here with book reviews and books lists. Hopefully, life will calm down some for her after she finishes college in May.
She did however find some time over her Christmas break for reading and writing a few book reviews. I finally got some of them posted and added them to the list of books that I reviewed recently.
As always, we share honest book reviews with what we like and don’t like in the books we read. We hope that it helps you find a book or two (or more) to add to your to be read stack.

A WWII historical fiction book. It is the story of twin sisters, war, love, sacrifice, and forgiveness.
The Fever of 1721 - From Our Bookshelf
Stephen Coss is not a book for everyone, although I wish way more people would read it. This was the right book at the right time for me.
The Ragged Edge of the Night
This is a WWII historical fiction story that is based on the author’s family. Those are my favorite type of WWII fiction reads.
Parnassus On Wheels
Written in 1917 Parnassus On Wheels by Christopher Morley is a short book at only ninety-four pages. If you are in a reading slump, this is a great book to pick up.

Under the Painted Sky - From Our Bookshelf
I don’t read a lot of YA, but this book caught my attention because it is about the Orgon Trail. The book is about two girls, disguised as boys, traveling on the Oregon Trail as they head to CA. They meet friends, enemies, and interesting characters along the way.
The Bookshop at Water's End
This book was published in 2017, includes romance, summer vacation, the beach, the river, a bookstore, and complicated families. That pretty much sums up a good beach read.

It is a story about coming to American and achieving the American dream. It is a story about war, the aftermath of war, and what you can overcome with hard work and determination.
