Book Summary:

The Lost and Found Bookshop by Susan Wiggs was published in 2020.

In the vast library of the Universe, there was a book that embodied the exact things Natalie was worrying about. Or so she thought.

After a shocking tragedy, Natalie inherits her mother’s financially strapped bookshop in San Francisco. She also becomes caretaker for her grandfather, who is in poor health.

To pay for her grandfather’s care, she plans to close the bookstore and sell the falling apart, but valuable building on a historic street.  Natalie loves her grandfather and will do whatever it takes to make his final years happy. She loves the store, and its books provide welcome solace for her overwhelming grief.

When her grandmother refuses to sell, she moves into the small studio apartment above the bookstore. Natalie carries out her grandfather’s request and hires contractor Peach Gallagher. His young daughter, Dorothy, also becomes a regular at the store while Peach is working.

To Natalie’s surprise, her sorrow begins to dissipate, and she discovers the truth about her family, her future, and her own heart.

Lynn's Review

The Lost and Found Bookshop book

The Lost and Found Bookshop starts with a tragedy and ends with love. At the center of it all is a bookshop and building that has been in the family for years.

Natalie has dreamed of security and stability in her job, once she has it she realizes that life is about so much more. Through her mourning, she finds out that sometimes the best life can be found in the exact place that she tried to run from.

If you love books about books, this is a great one. It might even make my favorite books of the year list. I will say that it had one or two scenes that were a little too pg-13 for me.
