Murder By The Book Bookstore

In honor of Independent Bookstore Day this Saturday, I am sharing all about my trip to Murder By The Book Bookstore in Houston, Texas.

Outside of Murder by the Book Bookstore

Last year, my son moved to the Houston area for his job. I visited him for the first time last month.

He asked me about things my husband and I wanted to do when we visited him in Houston, and I instantly knew Murder By The Book bookstore was high on my list of places I wanted to go.

My son knows that we love visiting bookstores when we travel, so his girlfriend and he made sure we took time to stop by Murder By The Book. Neither of them is a mystery book reader, so I was so glad they fit in time for us to stop by.

Murder By The Book was so fun to visit!

I was so surprised by how big it was. They had so many mystery books packed into the store. It was well organized and easy to browse.

I was familiar with some of the books, but there were so many books and mystery book series that I had never heard of.

I was really surprised at how many mystery books they had. There really are enough mysteries, thrillers, and crime books to have a store full of them!

Murder By the Book had so many great sections of the store.

They had cozy mysteries, British mysteries, historical mysteries, thrillers, true crime, classic mysteries, and more.

Murder By the Book Historical Mystery books

I loved the historical mystery section. If I had had more time to look, I am sure I would have gone home with quite a few books from this section.

The section I spent the most time in was probably the British mystery section. There were so many books that I had never heard of.

I found quite a few new British mystery series that I hope to read soon.

My husband, who is not a big mystery reader, even enjoyed looking through the British mystery section. He actually really enjoyed the whole bookstore more than I thought he would.

I was really amazed at how many books they had.

What I Bought At Murder By The Book

It was so hard to narrow down what I wanted to buy. This is what I ended up with.

four books I bought at Murder By the Book

My husband picked out Agatha Christie’s Appointment with Death. I have read a lot of Hercule Poirot books, but I have not read Appointment with Death, so I thought it was a great choice.

I have wanted to read Anthony Horowitz for a long time. I thought Murder By the Book was the perfect chance to read the first one in the series.

I have read and really enjoyed several Rhys Bowen books, but have not read any in her Molly Murphy series. Again, I thought Murder by the Book was a great time to pick up the first book in the series.

This Side of Murder by Anna Lee Huber is the first book in the Verity Kent Mystery series. I don’t remember ever hearing about this series, but I love a good British mystery, especially one set in the early 1900s. If you have read this series, I would love to hear what you thought.

Now I just have to decide what book to read first.

If you visit Houston, I highly recommend you visit Murder By The Book.
