How To Plot a Payback by Melissa Ferguson is a clean rom-com book published in 2024.

After finishing Meet Me In the Margins earlier this month, I knew that I wanted to read more books by Melissa Ferguson. I decided to read her book How to Plot a Payback. 

Books like this are often what I read before bed. I like to read in the evenings, but I am often tired and can’t concentrate on a book that takes a lot to follow. Books like How to Plot a Payback are perfect for me when I need an easy, lighter read. 

Finn Masters, a screenwriter, got his dream job writing for a hit show. The problem is that he is not a fan of one of the stars, Lavender Rhodes. She is someone he knew growing up back in England, and although she doesn’t know it, he blames her for ruining his acting career.

This book takes you into the world of acting and screenwriting. It has some fun, quirky characters, including Finn’s elderly neighbors. 

Yes, this is a predictable, somewhat cheesy book, but it was just the book I needed for an evening read to end the month. 

This was a 4 star read for me.
