Like A River book review

Like A River by Granger Smith is a Christian Memoir published in 2023.

Like a River was an impulse bookstore buy shortly after it was released. I knew a little bit about Granger Smith’s story, but not a lot. I had heard nothing about his book, but since I love to read memoirs, I decided to give it a try.

I started it right away and then set it down. Granger Smith’s son River drowned. That is basically how the book started. It was hard to read.

When I was recently sick and looking for something different than fiction to read, I decided to pick it back up. I finished it in one day.

This book is a modern memoir. It is written in a more modern way. It is not deep theology. It is raw and real. It is a little bit about Granger Smith’s music career, but it is mainly the story of losing his son, hitting rock bottom, and ultimately finding strength and the will to go on by relying on Christ.

If you wonder why a country music star would give up his career to go to seminary this book shares why.

It truly is a story of finding faith after loss.
