Lynn's Review
Meet Me In Monaco by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb is a historical fiction book.
Meet Me In Monaco is set during the 1950s, during the romance and marriage of actress Grace Kelly to Prince Rainier of Monaco.
This is another royal book in which the royals are not the stars of the story. I love stories like this.
This book follows Sophie Duval, who is a perfumer, and British press photographer James. A bond forms between Sophie and Grace Kelly as Grace tries to hide from James.
At the same time, though, a connection is made between Sophie and James. It is a connection neither can forget.
I loved the history in this work of historical fiction.
I knew that Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier, but I did not know any details. I definitely didn’t know anything about Monaco post-WWII.
I loved all the facts about making perfume and developing the perfume scents.
I don’t always love a fictional story about real people, but in this book is was fairly easy to tell what was fact and what was fiction. The notes in the story behind Meet Me In Monaco at the end of the book also explained what was fact and what was fiction.
If you are looking for a lighter historical fiction, this is a fun one that I think you might enjoy.
It is also a single timeline book, which I love.
