Book Review of
No One’s Coming
In 2014, two American medical workers who volunteered to help fight the deadliest Ebola outbreak in history became infected. It was a race against time to get them out and back to America.
The very notion of getting the patients out was not well-received. Logistically is was a challenge. How could you keep everyone safe and not spread Ebola in America.
Deep in the north Georgia mountains, Phoenix Air is contacted by the US government about another impossible mission.
Kevin Hazzard gives us a look at the story behind the news headlines. This story is terrifying, fascinating, and inspiring. It is about selfless hereos who risk their lives to save others.
Lynn's Review
No One’s Coming by Kevin Hazzard was published in 2026. It will be one of my favorite nonfiction books of the year.
I read and loved Kevin Hazzard’s book American Sirens back in 2023. When I saw that he had a new book coming out, I knew it was going to be a must read.
I even preordered this one, which I don’t do with a lot of nonfiction books.
This book focuses on the 2014 Ebola outbreak.
Do you remember the headlines when the government made the decision to bring two medical workers, who contracted Ebola while treating patients in Africa, back to the U.S.? There was a big outcry about it.
No One’s Coming is the behind the scenes play by play of bringing those two people with Ebola home to America.
Keven Hazzard is a former paramedic. He understands medical information and is passionate about the work medical professionals do. It shows in his writing.
He writes not only about Ebola and the events in Africa, but also in detail about the company, pilots, and professionals whose work in the years leading up to 2014 allowed them to save lives during the Ebola outbreak.
Keven Hazzard turned what could have been a dry factual story into a book that I could not put down. This book is a great book for fans of narrative nonfiction. I also think it would be a great book for anyone in the medical field.
One of the things I appreciated about this book was that it showed what doctors, nurses, medical professionals, and government workers deal with during medical emergencies and disease outbreaks.
I think this book helped me understand why medical professionals and government workers reacted like they did in the early days of 2020. That doesn’t mean I agree with everything that happened in 2020, but this book did help me understand the reasoning behind many decisions.
What if 2020 had been like Ebola? What if Ebola comes to America? Are we prepared? This book reminded me that there is so much going on behind the headlines. I will be thinking about this book for a long time.
