Surviving Savannah book

I liked Surviving Savannah by Patti Callahan Henry, but I didn’t love it. I knew nothing about the Pulaski, which some people called the Titanic of the South. The Pulaski was a steamship, full of wealthy southerners headed north for the summer, that sank in 1838. It was an interesting story full of the history of Savannah, Georgia, and the tragedy that hit when the Pulaski sank.

I loved learning about Savannah and about an event that I knew nothing about, but there were parts of this story that just didn’t work for me. It seemed too perfect and predictable at times.

I did enjoy reading the author’s notes in the book though. It was very interesting to hear about the book and the research that went into it.

I think I am in the minority on not loving this book. It has great reviews on Amazon. If you love historical fiction you will probably enjoy this one.
