The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery was published in 1926.

Valancy Stirling lived on a quiet little street in a little house. She never dared to contradict her domineering mother and her unforgiving aunt.

But then she gets a letter and she decides that very day things need to change. For the first time in her life, she does exactly what she wants to and says exactly what she feels.

At first her family thinks she’s gone crazy, but soon Valancy discovers more surprises and adventure than she ever thought she could have.

Grace's Review

Book Review The Blue Castle

L.M. Montgomery is known for her Anne of Green Gables series, but The Blue Castle might be my favorite L.M. Montgomery book.

A woman in her twenties finds herself lonely and trapped in her family’s gossipy life. Then everything changes when she visits a doctor who tells her that she is going to die within the year. So she decides to rebel against her family which leads to many different events that change her life. This book reminds me of Anne of Green Gables which is probably why I enjoyed it so much. I found this to be a fun relaxing read, yet it is a slightly predictable story.
