The Girl from Normandy by Rachel Sweasey is a historical fiction novel set during World War II, published in 2025.

The Girl from Normandy is a dual-timeline book set in 1940 and 1998 France. 

The WWII timeline follows Marie-Claire as the war totally changes her life.

The 1998 timeline follows Marie Claire’s grandson Jules and Esther, who visited Normandy as teenagers. 

I liked this book, but I didn’t love it. I liked the setting and the overall story. What I did not like was the number of affairs and sleeping with people who were not your spouse. 

I know things happen during war, but I felt like this book had too many love stories going on besides the war that took away from the story. 

I got the ebook for this from NetGalley, which is a platform for reviewers to get advanced copies of books, and I didn’t leave a review of it because I didn’t want to leave a negative review on a new release book. However, this book was not for me.
