The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a YA mystery book published in 2021.

Avery Grambs went from sleeping in her car to becoming a billionaire. Her life is full of mysteries, puzzles, and threats to her life. 

The Hawthorne Legacy is book two in the Inheritance Game series. Avery, along with the four Hawthorne brothers, is trying to figure out the puzzles Tobias Hawthorne left them. 

Book one begins the story of Avery’s inheritance and the family that is deeply involved. Book two continues the adventure with mystery, hidden passages, secret rooms, and more. It also solves the puzzle of who the fathers are of two of the Hawthorne brothers. 

I read and loved book one in the series last month. I knew that I wanted to read book two for my YA book this month. I enjoyed book two. It was a fun read that kept me guessing. However, I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as I did book one. 

There were a couple of story lines in this that I just didn’t like. 

The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lyunn Barnes is listed for 7th grade and up. I think I might disagree with that. The main characters in this book are high school students and older. It has a few romance scenes that I think are better suited for high school and up. However, I know others will disagree with me on that and think it is fine for 7th and 8th graders.
