The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh book review

The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh is a clean romance book published in 2024.

Kelsey was picking up Starbucks for her boss when she got hit by a car. When she woke up in the hospital, she realized that her day had gone nothing like she planned. She certainly didn’t expect to wake up sharing a hospital room with Georgia Tate, the legendary New York businesswoman.

Georgia’s kidneys are failing, and Kelsey is recovering from her accident. Both of them need a change, although Georgia doesn’t know how much of a change she needs.

They decided to make it a summer of saying yes to all the things they usually don’t do.

This book is a fun, clean romance.

I have mixed thoughts on Courtney Walsh’s books. Some of them are too light and fluffy for me. They are the kind of books that you read to escape, but they don’t give you much to think about.

Other books of hers, though, I  love because they are clean romance, but the characters have a depth to them that makes them more realistic than many clean romance books. They are clean romance books that make you think about life and how you are living it.

The Summer of Yes fits that second category. It was a book that made me think. It wasn’t just a light and fun clean romance book.

The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh was about putting work before family and friends. It was about marriage and parenting. It was about bad choices and regretting them. It was about friendships that you find in the most unexpected places. It was about a young woman taking the time to care for an older woman who was sick and lonely. And yes, it was also a romance book.

The romance part of the book was predictable, as were a few other parts, but overall I enjoyed it. It’s a summer read that you’ll keep thinking about long after you finish it.

The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley is still my favorite Courtney Walsh book, but The Summer of Yes is a close second.
