This Is Going To Hurt by Adam Kay book review

This Is Going To Hurt by Adam Kay is a medical memoir published in 2017.

This is Going to Hurt is the memoir of a doctor in the United Kingdom. It was published in 2017, so it predates the COVID-19 pandemic and the numerous changes in medicine that have occurred over the last five years.

I loved this book. Since it is set in England, the medical system is very different than the U.S.. However, I think much of a doctor’s life is the same.

There is a crisis in medicine in the U.S. Anyone who has visited an emergency room in the last five years has likely seen that.

Hospitals are understaffed, and medical professionals are overworked.

This book shares what life is like.

Doctors are often criticized for many things, but have you considered what the life of a doctor is like, especially through medical school and residency? Most people have no desire to go through what they do.

But we need more people to do what they do.

Instead of criticizing medicine, this book served as the reminder I needed to be thankful for the medical professionals who work hard and care deeply about their patients.

The reality is that most doctors and nurses don’t become doctors and nurses because of the money. They work in the medical field because they care. They care about their people and love the challenge that being part of the science and medical world brings.

If you enjoy memoirs and know someone who works in the medical field, I think you’ll find this one interesting. I think it is a book that more people need to read.
