Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers book review

Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto was published in 2023.

This was an impulse buy for me. Buying a book on Kindle is just so too easy sometimes…

I saw someone post about this book on Instagram. It was someone who has similar reading taste. I was having a really bad day with my asthma and was a bit discouraged. I have a ton of books on my bookshelf. I didn’t need a book to read, but I really needed a light, fun, read and I could not resist the temptation of buying it on Kindle.

I started it right away and finished it in two days. It was just the quick and easy read that I needed.

This was a fun modern murder mystery, but it was not a dark graphic one. This book would be great for fans of the Thursday Murder Club

Vera Wong is a lonely older lady who owns a tea shop. She lives a boring lonely life. That is until she wakes up one morning and finds a dead man in her shop.

She is not impressed with the police work, so she sets out to solve the crime. Along the way, she meets new friends, that become like family.

This book is very unrealistic. At times I kind of rolled my eyes at how crazy it was, but it was also a fun easy mystery read.

And the ending totally surprised me. I had no idea who the killer was and could not believe how it ended.

If you love mysteries and are looking for something lighter and fun you will probably enjoy Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers.
