Can you believe that it is 2020?
2019 was a good reading year for me. I did not really have a reading goal besides finishing my books for every state challenge.
In the past I have set a goal to read one hundred books, but I have found that when I do that I focus on quantity rather than quality. So for 2019 I did not set a goal for how many books I wanted to read. My goal was just to read.
I really did not pay attention to my book count for the year until I was thinking about my favorite books for 2019 and decided to add up how many books I had read.
I was quite surprised to find that I had read exactly one hundred books.
Most years I read way more nonfiction than fiction, but 2019 ended up being pretty even on the amount of fiction vs nonfiction. Forty five books were fiction and the rest were nonfiction.
Today I am sharing ten of my favorite books from 2019. I really had trouble narrowing it down. I read so many great books this year. I feel like 2019 was a good reading year simply by the quality of books that I read.
I read books the challenged me and pushed me outside my comfort zone. I also read a few fiction books that made my list of all time favorite fiction books.
Inheritance
Aloha Rodeo
In the Heart of the Sea
You Learn By Living
The Devil In the White City
We Were the Lucky Ones
Hannah Coulter
Tending Roses
Through the Eyes of the Lion
Suffering is Never for Nothing
Inheritance was so good – I went to an author talk and she was really interesting and shared additional context. I loved Hourglass which is about her marriage and I also enjoy her podcast, Family Secrets.
How interesting that you landed on 100 books exactly!
Inheritance was so fascinating. I have not read any other books by her, but I need to. I loved her writing style. I will give her podcast a try! I love listening to podcasts when I exercise or clean house. It was so fun to find out I read exactly 100 books!
I LOVED Hannah Coulter! Jayber Crow is also a great one by Berry. We Were the Lucky Ones is another great read as well as You Learn By Living! Eleanor Roosevelt is such an inspiring woman!
My favorite books of 2019 are linked in my name if interested!
I have Jayber Crow, but I have not read it yet. I have loved the other two books by him that I have read, so I am looking forward to reading Jayber Crow.
