September was a great reading month for me. I read a couple of good nonfiction books and finished quite a few fiction books as well.
I also finally read a book that so many people read and loved years ago. It took me awhile to get around to reading it, but now I see why everyone loved it!
I am also sharing my thoughts on two books that were not for me. Be sure to read my full reviews because I share my thoughts on PG, PG 13, and R rated books. I will admit that it probably makes me sound a bit old fashioned, but I am fine with that.
I was going to pick a favorite book for the month, but I don’t have one because I loved several of the books that I read.
The Cadaver King and the Country Dentist
I read this as part of my nonfiction books for every state challenge. I enjoyed this book, it was an important read about the criminal justice system, but it was a tough subject to read about. You can read my full review of The Cadaver King and the Country Dentist here
I Still Dream About You
This is only the second Fannie Flagg book that I have read and it won’t be my last. I am now on the lookout for more Fannie Flagg books. If you have a favorite Fannie Flagg book, I would love to hear what it is. For my full review of I Still Dream About You click here.
A Hobbit, A Wardrobe, and A Great War
This was a very interesting book and a great read for fans of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. You can read my full review of A Hobbit, A Wardrobe, and A Great War here.
Where’d You Go Bernadette
I finally got around to reading this book. I can’t believe I waited so long to read this one. I loved it and now see why so many others loved it as well. You can read my full review here.
The Night the Lights Went Out
I really enjoyed The Night the Light’s Went Out by Karen White. This is the first Karen White book that I have read, and I will definitely be reading more books by her.
The Lighthouse Keeper’s Daughter
This is another book that I read for my nonfiction books for every state challenge. It was a very interesting book and was a quick book to read. You can read my full review of The Lighthouse Keeper’s Daughter here.
The Masterpiece
I read this for a project I am working on and I have mixed thoughts on the book. You can read my full review of The Masterpiece here. The story and writing were great, but there were a few things about the book that I didn’t like.
The Summer Wives
The Summer Wives is another book that I really have mixed thoughts on. It just wasn’t a book that I enjoyed. It was a little too R rated for me. You can read my full review and thoughts here.
Little House in the Big Woods and Little House on the Prairie – I reread these for a project I am working on.
I read ten books in September so overall it was a great reading month for me. Did you read any great books in September? I would love to hear what you read!
I just heard about Cadaver King and added it to my library book hold list. I expect it to be a tough read, but one I think I would be interested in. Many of the rest of your historical fiction titles are on my to-read list.
It is a tough, but good read. There were many parts where I was reading it thinking I can’t believe that this actually happened. I hope you enjoy it.
