Book Summary:

The Sisters of Sea View is set on the English coast during the Regency era.

Sarah and her sisters fear they will have to sell their house when their father’s death leaves them impoverished. They are determined to stay together, so Sarah convinces them to open their seaside home to guests visiting the shore.  They thought their guests would be elderly invalids visiting to improve their health, but instead they find themselves hosting eligible gentlemen.

Sarah is soon torn between a growing attraction to one of their guests, who is a mysterious Scottish widower, and her duty to her family.

Meanwhile, Sarah’s sister, Viola Summers, wears a veil to cover the scar on her face. When forced between helping in her family’s household with their new guests and earning money to hire a maid to do her share, she chooses to take a job so they can hire a maid.

In order to earn money, she agrees to read to some of the town’s many invalids, since she prefers the company of a few elders with failing eyesight. However, her first client turns out to be a wounded officer in his thirties, and Viola regrets her decision to read to invalids.

The Sisters of Sea View book review

The Sisters of Sea View by Julie Klassen was published in 2022. It has 448 pages.

Julie Klassen is one of my go-to authors when I want to read a light, clean, romance type of book. Her books usually have a good storyline while also being clean and fun to read. Yes, they are usually predictable, but they are perfect for a fun, fairly mindless read.

The Sisters of Sea View is about four sisters and their widowed mother. Due to their father’s death, they are forced to turn their house into a boarding house. Their life totally changes when they take on boarders.

This book has a mix of mystery, family life, tragedy, and, of course, romance. It is not my favorite Julie Klassen book, but it was the right book at the right time and I enjoyed it.

When I am stressed or dealing with the craziness of life, I don’t turn to television as so many people do. Instead, I turn to books like this that I can read quickly. Getting lost in a book is one of my favorite ways to relax.
