I hope you are having a great summer! I can’t believe how fast the summer is going.
It’s time for another old-school-style post where I share a look into everyday life, both bookish and non-bookish.
The end of May, all of June, and early July were busy for me.
We visited my family in Oregon that last week of May, and my son and his girlfriend visited for the long 4th of July weekend. The weeks in between were busy as well with various projects and everyday life stuff.
I am looking forward to the rest of summer being a little slower paced, so that I have more time for reading.

As usual, I am reading way too many books at the same time. I am reading a nonfiction history book, a mystery, a work of historical fiction, a true crime, a work of literary fiction, and a work of Christian nonfiction. The only way that I can read this many books is that they are all on totally different topics.
And I can definitely tell there are too many books in my pile because several of them have been in my stack for more than a month. They are not bad books, I just keep getting distracted by other books.

My recent YA read, The Family Romanov, has set me on a path to learn more about Russian history, especially in the early 1900s. I am not sure how quickly I will tackle all these books, but I have already started reading Robert K. Massie’s.

One of my favorite historical fiction authors has a new book coming out this month, but it is more of a women’s fiction romance, so I am undecided whether to read it. I would love to hear your thoughts if you are a Kristin Harmel fan. I still need to read her 2025 release, so I might read that one first.

My bookshelves and the to-be-read books piled in stacks on the floor have gotten out of control. I really need to work on organizing them this summer.
I think it is time to clean off some shelves and get rid of books. I struggle so much with that though.
I love books. Real books, not digital ones. I read ebooks; they have a place, but in a world of digital media, I still love a book that I can hold in my hands.
Getting rid of books is something I struggle with, but I really need to let go of some of mine. Do you struggle with getting rid of books?

I am back to running!
I am a little afraid to say that, because I have had so many ups and downs in my health over the last six years. But I am slowly getting back to running the same number of miles each week as I did in 2019.
My time isn’t as good, and I do have to walk when my heart rate gets too high, but it feels so good to run several times a week again.
When I run, I usually listen to music because I have trouble concentrating on an audiobook or podcast. I would love to hear what you listen to when you exercise.
