Favorite Things

We decided to try something new and start sharing a weekly, or at least a few times a month, favorite things post. It will include all kinds of bookish fun stuff.

One of the things we plan to do is to highlight some of what we share on Instagram. We love the book community on Instagram. It is so much fun to follow along to see what others are reading. However, we know that not all our readers are on Instagram and don’t want to be. Many of you don’t want or need more social media in your life.

If you are not on Instagram though, you are missing out on a lot of our everyday reading life. We share all kinds of things on Instagram that we don’t have time to share here, but that is going to change.

We are going to start highlighting some of our favorite Instagram posts for the week in our favorite things posts. If you are not on Instagram, you will no longer miss out. If you are on Instagram we would love to have you follow From Our Bookshelf.

Here are a few of our favorite things for this week.

Books for 2018

So far in 2018, I have read 24 books. It is not as many as I had finished at this time last year. School has somewhat hurt my reading, but I am on track to read about 75, which still sounds pretty good.~Grace

One of my mom’s favorite books that she read last year. This is a perfect time to buy it because summer is coming, which means, at least for me, more spare time for reading great books like this one. ~Grace

I shared a full review of The Last Castle a few months ago. ~Lynn

On May 7th in 1915, the Lusitania was sunk, which caused the United States to join in World War I. Dead Wake is a great book to learn about this event, and I enjoyed reading it a few years ago. So I highly recommend for you to go check it out if you haven’t already read it. Have you read any other good books about World War I? ~Grace

I finished Rin Tin Tin last week and really liked it. This book is a very interesting read that taught me a lot about dogs throughout the 1900s and the movie and tv show business during that time. On top of that, it’s a book about a dog, and who doesn’t love good animal stories! ~Grace

Grace shared a full review of Rin Tin Tin too.

VE Day was May 8th. This is a picture of part of my World War II book collection. Do you have any favorite World War II books? My favorite is Flags of Our Fathers. ~Grace

Reading outdoors is always fun. ~Grace
